SKIN TIGHTENING
Plasmage skin tightening is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that uses a specialized device to deliver plasma energy to the skin, creating an effective tightening effect. Here’s a simple breakdown of what it is, how it works, and what to expect in terms of downtime and aftercare.

What is Plasmage Skin Tightening?

  1. How It Works: The Plasmage device generates plasma energy, which is a form of ionized gas. This energy is applied to the skin’s surface through a hand-held applicator. When the plasma touches the skin, it creates tiny controlled micro-injuries. These small energy bursts create immediate skin tightening as well as stimulate the body’s natural healing response, promoting collagen and elastin production. As these proteins regenerate, they help tighten and firm the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and sagging.
  2. What It’s Used For: Plasmage is commonly used for tightening skin on the face, neck, and areas of the body where skin laxity is a concern. It’s also effective for reducing wrinkles, improving skin texture, and addressing other signs of aging.

Downtime

  • Minimal Downtime: One of the appealing aspects of Plasmage is that it requires little to no downtime compared to more invasive procedures.
    • We recommend taking it easy the day following your procedure. Due to the fact, you may question all the decisions you have ever made due to swelling immediately upon waking. Most patients experience that this swelling goes down significantly by the end of the first day and usually the existential crisis ends that same day. From there, it improves pretty rapidly and many patients can resume their daily activities shortly after treatment.
  • Immediate Effects: While some results may be visible right away, the full benefits develop over several weeks as collagen production increases.
  • Temporary Side Effects: After the procedure, you may experience some redness, slight swelling, or pinpoint scabbing at the treatment site. These side effects usually resolve within a few days.

Plasmage skin tightening is a fantastic option if you’re seeking a non-invasive way to lift and tighten your skin. With minimal downtime and straightforward aftercare, it’s designed to fit seamlessly into your routine while providing noticeable, lasting results.

Lesion Removal

Plasmage is not only effective for skin tightening but also is commonly used for the removal of various types of lesions. This non-invasive treatment harnesses plasma energy to target and eliminate unwanted skin imperfections, such as moles, warts, skin tags, and other benign growths.

First, you must get confirmation and approval from your PCP and/or Dermatologist confirming that the lesions are safe to remove and not of concern for being cancerous.

The Plasmage device generates controlled plasma energy, which is then applied directly to the lesion, allowing the plasma to create tiny energy arcs that target the cells of the lesion without affecting the surrounding healthy skin. This process resuls in the lesion being vaporized or removed without the need for surgical excision.

Many patients notice a visible reduction or complete removal of the lesion immediately after the treatment. Depending on the type and size of the lesion, multiple treatment sessions may be needed. Following the procedure, the treated area may exhibit mild redness, swelling, or pinpoint scabbing, which typically resolves within a few days to a week.

Using Plasmage for lesion removal offers a non-invasive and effective alternative to traditional excision methods. With minimal downtime and a straightforward recovery process, it can achieve satisfactory results for various types of skin lesions.

Contact lenses must be removed when performing treatment on the upper eyelids. Skin should not be inflamed in the area we are treating prior to procedure.

If you have a sunburn/suntan, the treatment should be postponed for up to 8 weeks or until tan/burn signs disappear.

Eyelash extensions receiving upper or lower eyelid treatment MUST have lashes removed prior to treatment, they can be reapplied after 8 weeks.

For the subjects predisposed to herpes forms, a prophylactic treatment with antiviral drugs is recommended. It is your responsibility to let your provider know if you require a prescription to be sent prior to treatment.

Refrain from using topical agents that may increase sensitivity of the skin 2 -3 days before treatment.

Examples of products you should stop prior to procedure include:

  • Retinoids
  • Exfoliants and/or exfoliating devices
  • Salicylic washes and toners
  • Products containing AHA and BHA’s
  • Hydroquinone

You may be provided with topical exosomes to prep your skin for treatment. You will start this 7 days prior to treatment and use twice daily. Put this on first after you wash your face, let it soak in, then you can apply other gentle skincare.

Depending on laxity and desired results, you may want to have multiple treatments on the same area.  Areas may be treated every 3 months to let the collagen heal and turn over.

Plasmage POST-TREATMENT CARE

  • You are likely to see immediate tightening and lifting especially if you have crepey skin.
  • Please remember it takes a minimum of 12 weeks to see final result though you may still get improvements to the area for up to 6 months.
  • It will take 12 weeks for healing process to cycle through completely and for skin to be refreshed and for healing to complete. The most tightening/lifting happens in weeks 6 -8.
  • Temporary swelling is normal due to the fact that the area will be recovering from a deliberate controlled wound. Swelling cannot be avoided. Ice and antihistamine will help minimize swelling.
  • You may resume most activities immediately after any treatment (with the exception of high intensity cardio), but keep in mind, initially you may look a little rough.

Most symptoms are mild, and may include:

  • Redness or swelling that can last 3–5 days
  • Crusting that usually clears within 5–7 days
  • Pink skin that can last up to 4 weeks (can be covered with makeup)

Post-Treatment Skincare

Proper skin care after a Plasmage treatment is essential for achieving the best results and minimizing any potential side effects.

  • Ice the treated area using a clean towel to cover the ice pack each use. Anti-histamines can also help with swelling in early healing phases.
  • Avoid washing the treated area for the rest of the day. Then gently clean the area with water or a mild cleanser. Don’t rub; pat it dry.
  • You may be sent home with topical exosomes or another healing serum. Apply twice daily until finished with product. Hydrocortisone cream can help with swelling and can be applied up to 3 times a day for the first week after your treatment.
  • Use Aquaphor whenever you need it.

Do not use anything harsh on your skin (like acids, peels or physical exfoliants) until you have reached the 8 weeks post treatment healing point. Use common sense, if it doesn’t feel good, then don’t do it.

Post-treatment general guidelines:

  • Exercising right after a treatment is not recommended because any heat, steam or sweat can add to inflammation. Do not use any pools, hot tubs or saunas until after the dots have fallen off and your skin returns to a more normal state.
  • Do not pick scabs/crusts!
  • Do not apply makeup (even mineral makeup) until the scabbing has fallen off completely.
  • Avoid smoking.
  • Avoid shaving over any area that has been treated until the skin has fully healed.
  • Don’t expose your skin to sun, high heat, or intense cold for four weeks. Sunglasses are recommended for eye treatments. SPF greater than or equal to 50 is recommended.
  • If not expressly indicated by your provider, do not cover the treated area with gauze or bandage.
  • It is not recommended to drink substantial quantities of alcohol or spirits for a period of 10-14 days.
  • Try to lay propped up with pillows for the first couple of nights. Some discomfort is normal. The swelling will likely be worse in the mornings and lessen towards the evening. If you have had eye treatments, you may find it difficult to open your eyes the following morning, however it will subside throughout the day. It will feel like a bad sunburn.
  • Taking collagen, vitamin c and L-lysine supplements over the course of your healing process can give your immune system and collagen production a boost.
  • For any prolonged or abnormal side effect, as well as for issues relating to the outcome, it will be advisable to contact your provider to carry out a check-up.
  • Depending on laxity and desired results, you may want to have multiple treatments on the same area. Areas may be treated every 3 months to let the collagen heal and turn over.
